Online Portion:

Each participant will receive 2 recordings to watch prior to meeting in person. These recordings will be available starting March 22nd, 2025 until the start of the course on April 6th, 2025. Topics will include:

• Clinical Considerations of the Lumbar Spine in the Dancer

• Clinical Considerations of the Hip in the Dancer

Course Objectives: 
Upon completion of Module III, the participant will be able to: 

• Describe the anatomy, biomechanics and pathomechanics of common injuries in dancers involving the Lumbar Spine, Sacrum, Pelvis & Hip. 

• Identify typical presentations of commonly seen dance injuries/conditions including predisposing and precipitating factors, diagnostic presentation, typical interventions, and common preventative measures. 

• Improve assessment skills with a focus on the biomechanics of the Lumbopelvic Girdle and Hip focusing on optimizing dance-specific movements. 

• Develop efficient decision-making processes in the clinical setting with an enhanced ability to manage unique presentations that are common to the dancer. 

• Apply effective intervention strategies to typical injuries/conditions involving this region including motor control retraining, technique re-education, soft tissue/joint techniques, neural mobilization, strength conditioning, taping and use of supports.

10:30 am – 11:30 am Lab: Analysis of Postural Asymmetries/Deviations in the Dancer

11:30 am – 11:50 am Break

11:50 am – 1:00 pm Lab: Examination/Evaluation of the Lumbar Spine

1:00 pm – 2:00 pm Lunch

2:00 pm – 3:00 pm Lab: Examination/Evaluation of the Lumbar Spine

3:00 pm - 4:30 pm Lab: Examination/Evaluation of the Iliosacral & Sacroilial Joints

4:45 pm - 6:00 pm Lab: Restoring Lumbopelvic Girdle Mobility via Manual Therapy Techniques
