Research confirms that eating disorders, disordered eating, and the inter-related issues of under-fueling and body dissatisfaction are common among dancers. Despite the prevalence of these issues in dancers across genres, and their negative impacts on dancers’ physical and mental health and performance, they have not been adequately addressed in the dance community. Key barriers to prevention, early identification, and treatment include misinformation, stigma, stereotypes, and inadequate training among dance educators and health professionals. This course aims to bridge the gap by equipping dance providers and educators with the knowledge and tools necessary to play a crucial role in eating disorder prevention and recovery.
